David Villa Sanchez was born on 3rd December 1981 at Tuilla in Spain. Villa overcame a serious femur fracture during his childhood, before he started his football journey. At the age of 10, he joined UP Langreo, in 1991.He played for youth teams of UP Langreo until 1999.
He joined Sporting Gijon B that year. In 2000, he made it to the senior side of Sporting Gijon. He played for Gijon in the Spanish second division. He scored over 50 goals for Gijon during his three-year stint with them. His impressive goal-scoring tally prompted Real Zaragoza, a newly promoted team to Spanish La Liga, to buy him, in 2003.He made his La Liga debut while playing against Deportivo de La Coronaches. He scored his first la liga goal against Real Murcia. Villa scored 20 goals for Zaragoza, in his very first season. In 2004, he scored four goals while playing against Sevilla, to help Zaragoza to draw the match. He helped Zaragoza to win Copa del Rey in 2004, defeating Real Madrid. He won Spanish super cup also with Zaragoza that year. He helped Zaragoza to reach the round of 16 in UEFA cup during 2004/2005 season. Villa scored 38 goals for Zaragoza in 92 matches.
In 2005, Villa joined Valencia CF after a transfer deal worth £8 million. Villa scored his first goal for Valencia while playing against K.A.A Gent, during an Intertoto cup game. He scored a quick hat trick against Athletico Bilbao, in matter of 5 minutes, during 2005/2006 season. He finished as la liga’s second top scorer with 25 goals during that season. He helped Valencia to enter quarterfinals of Champions league during 2006/2007 season. He helped Valencia to win Copa del Rey in 2008.In an injury-plagued season he scored 22 goals. Villa has a contract with Valencia until 2014. During 2008/2009 season, he scored 28 goals in La Liga to equal the record of highest number of goals in a season, by a Valencia player. Villa has scored 101 goals until now for Valencia. Even though Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona tried to sign Villa in 2009, Valencia despite their financial problems took him off transfer market.
Villa made his debut for Spain against San Marino in 2005.He got the nod to play in 2006 world cup. He scored three goals during the world cup. Villa scored a stunning bicycle kick during the euro cup match against Liechtenstein. He scored six goals during the Euro 2008 qualification rounds. In euro 2008,Villa scored a hat trick against Russia and Spain won the match 4-1.He scored in penalty shoot win against Italy in Euro 2008 quarterfinal. However, he missed the final due to injury. Spain went on to win the Euro cup. He won the golden boot award for the top scorer of the tournament, with a tally of four goals. He made a new Spanish record of scoring 12 goals in world cup qualification matches. He also holds the record of scoring in six consecutive matches for Spain. He was an important player of Spanish team, which equalled the world record of having maximum consecutive wins as well as the record of having maximum consecutive undefeated matches. He has scored 31 goals for Spain in 49 matches.
